Under general supervision and reporting to the Senior Director of Quality Operations, the Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that delivered products are consistent with engineering drawings, specifications, aerospace regulations and customer requirements. The ME will provide engineering support for all aspects of product realization from design controls to build, test and delivery while working collaboratively with all relevant functions of the organization. The ME will work with the operating business to enable zero defect projects utilizing superior engineering and problem-solving skills. The ME will support robust, capable manufacturing process technology as it applies to both materials, tooling, part fabrication and assembly.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ensure good product flow through the manufacturing processes with appropriate visual management and application of industry standard Lean manufacturing principles
  • Evaluation and improvement of work instructions against required standards.
  • Familiar with technical procedures, specifications, standards, and other engineering and manufacturing related documents
  • Support resolution of fabrication issues as they arise. Participate in PFMEA creation and review; support gauge studies, evaluate process capability and process control plans.
  • Support failure investigations and complaint resolution for escapes, drive issues to root cause and implement corrective actions.
  • Provides support to manufacturing to ensure product is fabricated and assembled based on the intended functionality of the design.
  • Supports New Product Introduction (NPI) and Continuous Improvement (CI) efforts as required and is responsible for developing manufacturing processes and demonstrating those processes are fully capable of meeting critical requirements.
  • Complete statistical analysis of inspection data to determine process capability.
  • Responsible for technical support of manufacturing development and integration for production.
  • Utilize root cause analysis, preventative, and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances.
  • Support the implementation of tooling and production planning, from original concept through to production.
  • Delivers measurable, metrics driven results for the projects to which they are assigned
  • Support Engineering and participate in planning and reviews associated with product testing as required.
  • Participates in the APQP/PPAP process for new product
  • Develops and maintains procedures and processes that support core machine technologies.
  • Reside onsite at customer location for extended period
  • Evaluate and support disposition of non-conforming material and customer returns
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of:
  • MS Office
  • AS9100, AS9145 (APQP/PPAP), root cause analysis and corrective actions (RCCA), FMEA, Key Characteristics, Gage R&R, etc.
Skills:
  • Strong verbal, written and communication skills
  • Project management, time management, problem solving and organization
  • Fluent English – reading and writing is required
  • Professionalism, integrity, and exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong independent decision-making skills; excellent analytical skills and professional judgment
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Ability to:
  • Deliver Quality management support in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
  • Strong customer support and relationship building skills
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Fluent English – reading and writing is required
  • Pass pre-hire background check including DMV and credit screening
  • Pass Pre-hire Drug Screening

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 5+ years or more of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering roles, production, or operations management; Aerospace component structures (metallics and/or composites) experience preferred.
  • Practical experience of Six Sigma methodologies (e.g., Kaizen, Lean, DMAIC, PPAP) and tools (e.g., ANOVA, SPC, Capability Analysis, DOE, MSA, and FMEA)
  • Familiar with AS9100, AS9145 (APQP/PPAP), root cause analysis and corrective actions (RCCA), FMEA, Key Characteristics, Gage R&R, etc.
  • US or local Citizenship required
  • Functional testing PCBA’s

  • Familiar with RF functionality

  • Signal transmission

  • Impedance testing

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • US or International citizenship or permanent residence status required depending on work location.
  • Fluent English – reading and writing is required
  • Pass pre-hire background check including DMV and credit screening
  • Pass Pre-hire Drug Screening

WORKING CONDITIONS
Productivity: Incumbents must perform work in an efficient, effective, and timely manner with minimal direction.
Mobility: Incumbents are required to participate in assigned physical activities which may include light lifting and sitting for prolonged periods of time.
Vision: Vision sufficient to read printed documents, computer screens, and observe behavior of others.
Environment: Typical office conditions, directly working Quality management team, working with the SMS team, and external customers.
Other Factors: Typical hours worked are Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Incumbents may be required to work occasional extended hours and weekend overtime.
The employee frequently is required to use hands or finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk (approximately 1-2 miles a day); sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee will occasionally drive long distances to and from various suppliers as needed. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
